  1. (a) A person commits the offense of soliciting unlawful compensation if he or she requests a benefit for the performance of an official action as a public servant knowing that he or she is required to perform that action:

    1. (1) Without compensation, other than authorized salary or allowances; or

    2. (2) At a level of compensation lower than that requested.

  2. (b) Soliciting unlawful compensation is a Class A misdemeanor.
