Cabinet-level departments

  1. (a) The following cabinet-level departments are created:

    1. (1) The Department of Agriculture;

    2. (2) The Department of Commerce;

    3. (3) The Department of Corrections;

    4. (4) The Department of Education;

    5. (5) The Department of Energy and Environment;

    6. (6) The Department of Finance and Administration;

    7. (7) The Department of Health;

    8. (8) The Department of Human Services;

    9. (9) The Department of the Inspector General;

    10. (10) The Department of Labor and Licensing;

    11. (11) The Department of the Military;

    12. (12) The Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism;

    13. (13) The Department of Public Safety;

    14. (14) The Department of Transformation and Shared Services; and

    15. (15) The Department of Veterans Affairs.

  2. (b) All cabinet-level departments are executive agencies and report to the Governor.

  3. (c) The General Assembly may prescribe duties to the cabinet-level departments and the various state entities that are administered by the cabinet-level departments.

  4. (d) Each cabinet-level department shall consist of the state entities transferred by a cabinet-level department transfer under this chapter and other state entities as provided by law.
