  1. (a) For the purpose of protecting the timber and lands of the state against trespass and to obtain reliable information upon which to predicate the proceedings provided for in this subchapter, the Attorney General shall have the authority to employ agents to make the necessary investigations and reports.

  2. (b) The agents shall report to the Attorney General all cases wherein they discover any trespassing on the lands of the state and shall also investigate reports made by others as to such trespass.

  3. (c) Different persons may, in the discretion of the Attorney General, be employed to make investigations, although not more than one (1) person shall be under employment at any given time.

  4. (d) An agent shall receive for his or her compensation an amount not exceeding ten dollars ($10.00) per day while actually engaged in service pursuant to this section to the exclusion of all other business, may be reimbursed for necessary expenses while so engaged, and shall file with the Attorney General an itemized verified statement of his or her expenses.
