Arkansas Governor's Mansion Commission — Powers and duties

  1. (a) The Arkansas Governor's Mansion Commission shall have the following powers and duties:

    1. (1) To survey and investigate the condition of the Governor's Mansion, its appurtenant buildings, its grounds, and its contents, including furniture and fixtures;

    2. (2) To prepare and file with the Governor and the Legislative Council an annual Governor's Mansion report, to be filed on or before November 1 of each year, summarizing the results of the commission's surveys and investigations made under subdivision (a)(1) of this section and recommending any necessary repairs, improvements, replacements, or reconstruction of the Governor's Mansion, its appurtenant buildings, grounds, and contents, together with an itemized and detailed estimate of the costs thereof; and

    3. (3)

      1. (A) To solicit and accept gifts, grants, or donations of or for the purchase of furnishings, fixtures, works of art, trees, shrubs, landscaping, and similar contents and appurtenances.

      2. (B) However, no such gift, grant, or donation may be accepted without the approval of the Governor.

  2. (b) The Governor shall consult the commission before taking any action that would affect the historic value of the Governor's Mansion.

  3. (c) Any individual, corporation, or nonprofit association may solicit funds or engage in fundraising activities on behalf of the commission upon written permission by the commission and the Governor.
