The State Board of Optometry may undertake the functions and responsibilities to carry out the purposes of this subchapter, which may include any of the following:

  1. (1) Contracting with providers of treatment programs;

  2. (2) Receiving and evaluating reports of suspected impairment from any source;

  3. (3) Intervening in cases of verified impairment;

  4. (4) Referring impaired optometrists to treatment programs;

  5. (5) Monitoring the treatment and rehabilitation of impaired optometrists;

  6. (6) Providing posttreatment monitoring and support of rehabilitated impaired optometrists;

  7. (7) Suspending, limiting, or restricting the optometrist's license for the duration of the impairment; and

  8. (8) Performing such other activities as the board deems necessary to accomplish the purposes of this subchapter.
