  1. (a) There is created a Board of Electrical Examiners of the State of Arkansas.

  2. (b) The board shall consist of the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Licensing or his or her authorized representative and eight (8) other members who shall be residents of this state appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate:

    1. (1) One (1) member shall be the chief electrical inspector of a municipality within the state;

    2. (2) One (1) member shall be a licensed professional engineer as defined in § 17-30-101 engaged primarily in the design or maintenance of electrical installations;

    3. (3) One (1) member shall be an electrical contractor operating in this state;

    4. (4) One (1) member shall be a master or supervising electrician;

    5. (5) One (1) member shall be a representative of a public electric utility operating in this state;

    6. (6) One (1) member shall be a representative of a private electric utility operating in this state;

    7. (7) One (1) member shall represent the public and shall not be affiliated with any of the other groups represented on the board; and

    8. (8) One (1) member shall represent the elderly, shall be sixty (60) years of age or older, and not actively engaged as or retired as an electrician. This member shall be appointed from the state at large, subject to confirmation by the Senate, and shall be a full voting member but shall not participate in the grading of examinations.

  3. (c) The same person may not be both the public representative and the representative of the elderly.

  4. (d) Each appointment shall be for a term of four (4) years or until a successor is appointed.

  5. (e) In the event of a vacancy during a term, the Governor may appoint a replacement to fulfill the unexpired portion of the term.

  6. (f) The board shall elect one (1) of its members to act as its chair for a term of one (1) year, and he or she shall have a vote on all matters before the board.

  7. (g) For cause and after a hearing, any appointed member may be removed from office by the Governor.

  8. (h) Each appointed member may receive expense reimbursement and stipends in accordance with § 25-16-901 et seq.
