  1. (a)

    1. (1) The Oil and Gas Commission, in consultation with the Secretary of the Department of Energy and Environment, may employ an attorney to provide specialized professional services in matters requiring legal representation.

    2. (2) However, any contract for legal representation shall be subject to approval by the Attorney General, who shall otherwise be attorney for the commission.

  2. (b) Any member of the commission or the secretary thereof shall have power to administer oaths to any witness in any hearing, investigation, or proceeding contemplated by this act or by any other law of this state relating to the conservation of oil or gas.
