    1. (1)

      1. (A) At the time prescribed in this subtitle, the qualified voters of each city of the second class shall elect a city marshal, a city recorder, and a city treasurer.

      2. (B) Each city marshal, city recorder, or city treasurer shall continue in office until his or her successor is elected and qualified.

    2. (2)

      1. (A) The city council may provide by ordinance for the appointment of the city treasurer.

      2. (B) An ordinance under subdivision (a)(2)(A) of this section shall be passed before the filing period begins for an election for the office of city treasurer, but no later than the February preceding the beginning of the early filing period.

  2. (b) These officers shall have such powers and perform such duties as are prescribed in this subtitle, or as may be prescribed by any ordinance of the city, consistent with the provisions of this subtitle.
