Nothing in this subchapter shall be construed to prohibit:

  1. (1) The discharge of a firearm or archery equipment in the defense of life or property;

  2. (2) The discharge of a firearm or archery equipment at a public or private shooting range or gallery; or

  3. (3) The discharge of a firearm by a law enforcement officer in the performance of his or her duty.
