  1. (a)

    1. (1) Whenever any inmate of the Department of Correction shall escape from its custody, it shall be the duty of the Director of the Department of Correction or his or her designee to immediately notify the appropriate law enforcement officers in the area where the escape took place.

    2. (2) Notification of law enforcement officers in other areas of the state as well as surrounding states will be made as deemed necessary by the department.

  2. (b) A violation of any provision of this section shall be a violation and shall be punished by a fine of not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than twenty-five dollars ($25.00).
