  • (a) This section may be cited as the Uniform Determination of Death Act.

  • (b) An individual who has sustained either: (1) irreversible cessation of circulatory and respiratory functions or (2) irreversible cessation of all functions of the entire brain, including the brain stem, is dead. A determination of death must be made in accordance with the accepted medical standards.

  • (c) This section shall be applied and construed to effectuate its general purpose to make uniform the law with respect to the subject of this law among the jurisdictions enacting it.
