  • (a) If, after the giving of the undertaking referred to in section 453 of this title, it becomes necessary, in order to satisfy any claim against the estate, to require the payment of all or any part of the sum herein specified, the executor or administrator shall apply by petition to the court for a decree to that effect. Notice of the application shall be given to the party filing undertaking twenty days before the time at which the application is made.

  • (b) If, upon the hearing, it appears necessary and proper that such payment referred to in subsection (a) of this section should be made, the court shall decree accordingly, specifying therein the amount to be paid and within what time. If the amount is not paid within the time specified, the decree may be enforced against such party and the sureties in the undertaking by execution, in the same manner as a judgment in the district court.
