      • (a) The Board of Parole in the Virgin Islands is established within the Bureau of Corrections.

    • Composition; appointment and qualifications of members

      • (b) The Board shall be composed of eight members, as follows:

        • (1) The Attorney General of the Virgin Islands, who shall serve as a member ex officio, without vote; and

        • (2) Seven members appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Legislature.

          • Of the seven members appointed by the Governor, at least three shall be citizens residing in the area comprising St. Thomas and St. John, and at least three shall be citizens residing in St. Croix. No officer or employee of the Judicial Branch of the Government or any division, bureau, or other unit within the Department having supervision, direction or management of the Police Force shall be appointed as a member of the Board.

    • Terms of members; vacancies

      • (c) All members shall serve for a period of two years, except that any person appointed to fill a vacancy occurring prior to the expiration of the term for which his predecessor was appointed shall be appointed only for the remainder of such term. Each member shall serve until the appointment and qualification of his successor.

    • Chairman

      • (d) The Board shall elect annually one of its members to serve as its Chairman.

    • Removal of members

      • (e) The members may be removed by the Governor for cause.

    • Additional functions of Board

      • (f) In addition to the performance of its functions prescribed by law, the Board shall perform such functions as the Commissioner prescribes, or as required by Federal law.

    • [Clerical help]

      • (g) The Board is authorized to employ such clerical help as needed to carry out its functions as required by law.

    • [Per diem]

      • (h) In addition to necessary travel expenses, each appointed member of the Board shall receive $50 for each day, or part thereof, on which the Board meets.
