  • (a) To assist with the safe recovery of abducted children, there is established in the Virgin Islands Police Department the Virgin Islands Amber Alert Emergency Response Program. The Program shall be implemented and administered by the Virgin Islands Police Department and shall be a coordinated effort among the Police Department, other law enforcement agencies, the Attorney General, the V.I.T.E.M.A., child welfare agencies and the territory's public and commercial television and radio broadcasters.

  • (b) The Commissioner, with the assistance of the Attorney General, shall develop and implement an Amber Alert notification plan for the purpose of disseminating, as rapidly as possible, information about a child abduction so that the Department, other law enforcement agencies and the citizens throughout the Virgin Islands may be aware and may assist law enforcement with safe recovery of abducted children. The notification plan must provide a procedure for notifying all law enforcement officers, appropriate agencies and the media that an Amber Alert has been declared.
