Application for operator's license; issuance; duration; duplicates

  • (a) An application for an operator's license shall be made upon a form furnished by the Director of Motor Vehicles and shall contain such information as he prescribes. It shall be accompanied by the fees required by law.

  • (b) If the Director finds that the applicant is qualified under this title, he shall issue an operators license. The license shall bear thereon the distinguishing number assigned to the applicant, the date of expiration, the name, age, and residence of the licensee, a brief description and photograph of the licensee for the purpose of identification and space for the signature of the licensee. The Director shall use such process or processes in the issuance of licenses, that prohibit as near as possible, the ability to alter or reproduce the license, or prohibit the ability to superimpose a photograph on such license without ready detection.

  • (c) An operator's license is valid for five years and expires on the licensee's birthday in the fifth year after issuance.

  • (d) In case of loss or destruction, duplicate operators' licenses may be issued by the Director upon payment of the fees prescribed by law.

  • (e) At the request of the applicant for an operator's license under this section, a document of anatomical gift shall be imprinted on the applicant's operator's license. Such documentation of anatomical gift must comply with the requirements of title 19, chapter 20, section 403(b), of the Virgin Islands Code and shall be known as the MARK C. MARIN ORGAN DONOR IDENTIFICATION CARD.
