  • (a) Any container cargo line or its agent shall apply for license plates for transit, commercial trailers. The application shall be sworn to or affirmed and it shall contain such information as the Director of Motor Vehicles may require. The cost of each such license plate (one per trailer) shall be computed in accordance with subsection (a) of section 433 of chapter 39 of this title. The Director shall designate a special prefix or number series for transit, commercial trailers license plates. Transit, commercial trailer license plates shall be used only for such trailers and shall not be used on vehicles intended for extended use in the Virgin Islands. The Director may revoke any license plate issued pursuant to this section if he finds that such plate is being used in violation of this section.

  • (b) Any container cargo line or its agent, who brings a container into the Territory, shall be assessed a fee of $50 per container on containers that measure up to 39 feet in length and $100 per container that measures 40 feet or more.

  • (c) The fees assessed in subsection (b) shall be collected by the Director of the Bureau of Internal Revenue and deposited into the General Fund in the Treasury of the Virgin Islands.
