  • (a) The Virgin Islands Lottery Commission shall be composed of the Commissioner of Finance, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget or his designee, and five additional members appointed by the Governor, subject to confirmation by the Legislature, for a term of four years. The majority of the members shall elect a chairperson from among the members of the Commission, who shall serve for a period of four years. Of the five members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Legislature, two members shall be licensed lottery sales agents, one from the District of St. Thomas-St. John and one from the District of St. Croix; of the remaining three members, one each shall be a resident of St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John, respectively.

  • (b) Any member of the Commission whose term has expired may continue to serve until a qualified successor has been appointed and confirmed by the Legislature. Any vacancy in the Commission occurring for any reason other than the expiration of term, shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as the original appointment.

  • (c) Any member of the Commission may be removed from office by the Governor, for cause, upon notice and opportunity to be heard at a public hearing.

  • (d) Each member of the Commission shall receive $50 for each day or part thereof spent in the performance of his official Commission duties, plus reasonable expenses including travel, incurred thereby, provided, that Commission members who are Government employees shall receive per diem and travel expenses as provided by law.
