(a) A person who violates any of the requirements of sections 220 through 225 of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor on a first offense and upon conviction is subject to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one (1) year and a penalty not exceeding $1,000, and is guilty of a felony on any second or subsequent offense and upon conviction is subject to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five (5) years and a penalty not exceeding $5,000.
(b) Notwithstanding the penalties prescribed in subsection “(a)” of this section, any person who violates section 225a of this chapter, upon conviction, is guilty of a misdemeanor, subject to a term of imprisonment not to exceed one (1) year and penalty not to exceed $1,000.
