  • (a) There is established within the Office of the Governor a Division of Special Projects, referred to as the “Division” in the remainder of this section. The Division shall be administered by a Director.

  • (b) The Division shall be responsible for governmental and community matters relating to women and consumers. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, and in addition to such functions, duties, and powers as may otherwise be prescribed by law or by the Governor, the Division shall have the following functions, duties, and powers:

    • (1) Formulate standards, policies and programs for promoting the welfare of wage-earning women, improving their working conditions, increasing their efficiency, and advancing their opportunities for profitable employment.

    • (2) Assist the Commission on the Status of Women in acquiring, consolidating, and utilizing information and statistics relating to the characteristics of the female work force, employment opportunities, wage and hour data, and work conditions.

    • (3) Provide technical assistance to governmental and non-governmental organizations on proposed legislation and administrative procedures affecting women.

    • (4) Counsel young women concerning employment opportunities and employment problems, and assist and direct women to sources of training and retraining for female employment.

    • (5) Investigate complaints by women workers which allege discrimination on any basis, including sex, in violation of Federal or local law.

    • (6) Assist employers and employees in the area of household employment to establish safer and more productive working conditions.

    • (7) Conduct studies and collect data on standards and prices relating to consumer items.

    • (8) Cooperate and coordinate with the Bureau of Statistics and Research in collecting and analyzing data and in developing research and study programs related to the Division's functions, duties, and powers.
