Weights and measures in conformity with the standards of the United States as have been supplied to the Government of the United States Virgin Islands by the federal government or otherwise obtained by the Director for use as territorial standards, when the same have been certified as being satisfactory for use as such by the National Bureau of Standards, shall be the standards of weights and measures for the United States Virgin Islands. The territorial standards shall be kept in a safe and suitable place in the Consumer Services Administration. They shall not be removed therefrom except for repairs or certification. They shall be submitted at least once every ten years to the National Bureau of Standards for certification. The territorial standards shall be used only in verifying the office standards and for scientific purposes.
