Appointment of new agent; service on Lieutenant Governor

When a person appointed pursuant to the provisions of section 1210 of this title dies or removes from the United States Virgin Islands, another person residing in the United States Virgin Islands and having therein an office or place of business shall, within thirty days from the date of such death or removal, be appointed in the manner hereinbefore specified, upon whom service of process may be made as provided in section 1210 of this title. In case of such death or removal, or if a person is not appointed as aforesaid, process against such nonresident person may be served by delivering to the Lieutenant Governor duplicate copies thereof, which service shall be effectual for all purposes of law. The Lieutenant Governor shall enter alphabetically in a process book kept for that purpose, the name of plaintiff and defendant, the title number, if any of the cause in which process has been served upon him, and day and hour when the service was made.
