  • Whoever, not being connected with any telegraph, radio, or cable office—
    • (1) willfully opens any sealed envelope inclosing any telegraphic, radio or cable message, without authority or consent of the person to whom the same may be directed and with the purpose of learning the contents of such message; or

    • (2) fraudulently personates any other person and thereby procures any telegraphic, radio or cable message addressed to such other person, with the intent to use, destroy or detain the same from the person entitled to receive such message—

      shall be fined not more than $500 or imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both.
