  • (a) If the trial referred to in section 1132 of this title is by jury the judge of the district court shall issue an order to the clerk of the court directing him to summon a jury of 6 persons from the regular jury panel who shall be residents in the judicial division and jurisdiction in which the defendant resides and who shall possess all the legal qualifications of juries in civil cases, such jurors to be and appear before the judge at the time and place designated in the order for the hearing and determination of the matter. The government and the defendant shall each be entitled to three peremptory challenges to the jury.

  • (b) Jurors serving pursuant to subsection (a) of this section shall receive compensation at the same rate as provided for jurors sitting in other civil actions.
