- Promotion of Education Concerning Solid Waste Management
In order to promote education of children in grades kindergarten through twelve (K-12) concerning solid waste management, source reduction and recycling, the University of Tennessee Waste Management Research and Education Institute, in conjunction with the commissioner of environment and conservation, shall:
- Review, evaluate and publish a list of approved curriculum materials relative to solid waste management, source reduction and recycling;
- Sponsor workshops on the curriculum materials for educators;
- Provide in-service training for teachers on solid waste management, recycling and source reduction, environmental protection and conservation of materials; and
- Establish peer assistance programs for teachers within a solid waste management region.
