Whenever any police officer finds a vehicle standing upon a highway in violation of § 55-8-158, the officer is authorized to move the vehicle, or to require the driver or other person in charge of the vehicle to move it, to a position off the paved or main-traveled part of the highway.
Whenever any police officer finds a vehicle unattended upon any bridge or causeway or in any tunnel, or on any highway, where the vehicle constitutes an obstruction to traffic, the officer is authorized to provide for the removal of that vehicle to the nearest garage or other place of safety, at the expense of the owner.
