In order to carry out this chapter, the World War Museum, previously administered by the adjutant general's office, the Civil War Exhibit, previously administered by the United Daughters of the Confederacy and Spanish-American War Exhibit, previously administered by the Spanish War Veterans, the Museum of Natural History, previously administered by the former game and fish commission, the Tennessee Archaeological Exhibit, the Tennessee Historical Exhibit and the relics and mementos of the World War II Commission are under the supervision of the state museum.
Any other exhibit in the possession of the state, or that may come into the possession of the state, shall be placed under this commission and administered under this chapter, this subsection (b) having especial reference to exhibits of the natural resources of the state.
The state museum is authorized and empowered to:
Enter into contracts, within the limits and funds available therefor, with individuals, organizations and institutions for services furthering the objectives of the museum's programs;
Provide advice and technical assistance, within the limits of funds available therefor, to the staff or board of directors or trustees of museums that are operated on state-owned property by entities other than the state; and
Make and sign any agreement and do and perform any acts that may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this chapter.
