The University of Tennessee has the power to condemn and appropriate such lands, property, property rights, privileges and easements of others as in the judgment of its board of trustees, or the executive committee thereof, may be necessary or proper for the purpose of providing buildings and other facilities, building sites, campus grounds, commons, streets, walkways, rights-of-way for utilities and other improvements, and for any extension, enlargement or improvement thereof, for the use and operation of such university and its various units and branches throughout the state.
The compensation for damages in taking of such lands, property, property rights, privileges, and easements shall be paid by such university, and the same shall be condemned and determined in the mode and manner provided in chapter 16 of this title.
