  1. The municipality shall not in any event be liable for the payment of the principal of or interest on any bonds of the authority or for the performance of any pledge, mortgage, obligation or agreement of any kind whatsoever which may be undertaken by the authority, and none of the bonds of the authority or any of its agreements or obligations shall be construed to constitute an indebtedness of the municipality within the meaning of any constitutional or statutory provision whatsoever.
  2. Notwithstanding subsection (a), a municipality may, by a written indemnity agreement, agree to indemnify an authority and its directors, officers and employees against losses, claims, expenses, costs, obligations, debts, suits, demands, actions and liabilities, including those arising from the authority's negligence, which are asserted against the authority, or its directors, officers or employees in connection with any project undertaken by the authority, and such indemnity agreement shall be enforceable against the municipality in accordance with its terms, including any such indemnity agreement in effect on May 7, 1998.
