36-9-45. Biennial renewal of license--Expiration date--Notice by board--Fee--Period of renewal.

The license of any person licensed under the provisions of this chapter shall be renewed biennially, except as provided in §36-9-46. The expiration date shall be established by the rules of the board pursuant to chapter 1-26. The board shall provide a notice for renewal of license to each licensee at least ninety days prior to the expiration date of the person's license. The licensee shall submit the required fee to the board before the expiration date. Upon receipt of the fee, the board shall renew the license. The renewal shall render the license holder a legal practitioner of nursing as designated for the period stated on the renewed license. However, if any applicant for renewal of a license has not engaged in the practice of nursing in the past six years, the board may establish reentry standards, by rules promulgated pursuant to chapter 1-26, and may require written evidence, verified by oath, as may be necessary to determine compliance with the standards.
