(a) In every case in which trial is by jury in the family court, in accordance with the provisions of § 14-1-47, the trial shall be held in the same manner and subject to the same provisions as jury trials in criminal prosecution in the superior court.

(b) The presiding justice of the superior court may assign a room in the superior court building for any jury trial held by the family court. The general public shall be excluded and only those persons shall be admitted as provided in § 14-1-30.
