Any person who shall execute or make any sworn statement or affidavit containing false information in connection with any transaction made from the funds held by the Commissioners of the Land Office shall be guilty of the felony of perjury and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) or by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections for a term not to exceed one (1) year, or by both fine and imprisonment.
