A. The "telecommunications bureau" is created in the utility division of the public regulation commission.

B. The telecommunications bureau shall:

(1) review disputes between telecommunications providers;

(2) investigate each complaint on an expedited basis;

(3) address other telecommunications-related duties as required by the New Mexico Telecommunications Act [Chapter 63, Article 9A NMSA 1978] and the commission; and

(4) recommend actions to the commission.

C. Each complaint shall be resolved by the commission within sixty days unless extended for good cause by an order of the commission or hearing examiner that states with specificity the reason for and length of the extension.

Compiler's notes. — Laws 2020, ch. 9, § 59 recompiled former 8-8-12.1 NMSA 1978 as part of Chapter 62, Article 19 NMSA 1978, effective January 1, 2023, contingent upon certification by the secretary of state that the constitution of New Mexico has been amended as proposed by a joint resolution of the first session of the fifty-fourth legislature (Laws 2019, SJC/SRC/SJR Nos. 1 and 4, CA #1) at the general election to be held on November 3, 2020. See 62-19-18 NMSA 1978.

Duplicate laws. — Laws 2000, ch. 100, § 1 and Laws 2000, ch. 102, § 1 enacted identical new sections of law, effective March 7, 2000. This section was set out as enacted by Laws 2000, ch. 102, § 1. See 12-1-8 NMSA 1978.
