[Compensation of deputies to be paid by clerk.]

A deputy clerk of the probate clerk [court] shall not receive any additional salary or pay of any kind for the performance of his duties, and his compensation shall be taken out from the pay and the fees of the clerk as allowed by law and as agreed upon between the deputy and the clerk who appoints him.
