As used in the Early Childhood Care and Education Act:
A. "department" means the early childhood education and care department;
B. "early childhood" means the period of a person's life from birth to age five;
C. "fund" means the early childhood care and education fund; and
D. "secretary" means the secretary of early childhood education and care.

ANNOTATIONSThe 2019 amendment, effective July 1, 2020, deleted the definitions of "council" and "pre-kindergarten", and revised certain definitions as used in the Early Childhood Care and Education Act; deleted former Subsection A, which defined "council", and redesignated former Subsections B through D as Subsections A through C, respectively; in Subsection A, after "means the", deleted "children, youth and families" and added "early childhood education and care"; deleted Subsection E and redesignated former Subsection F as Subsection D; and in Subsection D, after "secretary of", deleted "children, youth and families" and added "early childhood education and care".
