Any person who knowingly makes or causes to be made, either directly or indirectly, or through any agency whatsoever, any false statement in writing concerning an applicant’s income, employment, financial position, the size of the applicant’s family, the intent of the applicant to occupy premises as his or her primary residence or the cost of the residence, with intent that the statement be relied upon for the purpose of obtaining financial assistance from the Division is guilty of a gross misdemeanor.
