"Notarial act" defined.

"Notarial act" means an act that a notarial officer of this state is authorized to perform. The term includes:

1. Taking an acknowledgment;

2. Administering an oath or affirmation;

3. Certifying a copy;

4. Executing a jurat;

5. Noting a protest of a negotiable instrument; and

6. Performing such other duties as may be prescribed by a specific statute.
