Police department — reemployment of veterans. — Any person who shall have entered the armed service of the United States during time of war shall be preferred for reemployment, provided such person was employed in the police department at the time of such induction or enlistment and is otherwise qualified and has been honorably discharged from such service and applies for reemployment within twelve months of such discharge.
