Witnesses to be examined on oath. — Every witness examined, in pursuance of sections 492.080 to 492.400, shall be sworn or affirmed to testify the whole truth, and his examination shall be reduced to writing, or taken in shorthand and transcribed, in writing, in the presence of the person or officer before whom the same shall be taken.
