The purpose of requiring examination is to determine that each applicant for licensure possesses the minimum skills and knowledge to practice competently.
The board shall accept as evidence of competency, in addition to all other requirements as stated in this chapter, the successful completion of any state, nationally or internationally accredited examination approved by the board.
Eligibility requirements to take an examination approved by the board are set by the organization that is responsible for establishing and maintaining the examination.
An applicant for licensure who has been previously licensed may be required to take an examination approved by the board and achieve a passing score before re-licensure under any one (1) of the following circumstances:
The applicant has been unlicensed voluntarily for more than thirty-six (36) calendar months; or
The board may require reexamination in any disciplinary order, based upon the findings and conclusions relative to the competency of a holder of a license to practice massage before issuing an unconditional license.
An applicant for licensure must also successfully complete the Mississippi State Law Examination.
