Sec. 1.
The property rights of the state of Michigan, its political subdivisions and private interests are imperiled when the public records in the office of the register of deeds of any county have been, or shall hereafter be, lost or destroyed, in whole or in any material part, by fire, flood or other disaster. It is the purpose of this act to provide a remedy to safeguard such property rights, and to foster the recreation of the public records.
