Sec. 18a.

(1) A facility that repairs or replaces air bags in a motor vehicle shall maintain a record of the purchase or sale of each used or reconditioned air bag purchased or acquired by the facility. The record shall contain the date of purchase or acquisition of each air bag, a description of each air bag, the identification number assigned to each air bag, and the name and address of the person to or from whom each air bag was purchased, acquired, or sold. The record of the sale, purchase, or acquisition of each air bag shall be maintained in or attached to a police book as described in section 251 of the Michigan vehicle code, 1949 PA 300, MCL 257.251. The facility's police book and the records of air bag sales, purchases, or acquisitions shall immediately be made available for inspection by the administrator and other law enforcement officials after a request for inspection is made.

(2) Records required under this section shall be maintained by the facility for not less than 5 years.
