RS 1933 - Organization and powers

A. Each juvenile detention home district shall be a political corporation, with power to sue and be sued and shall be governed by a board of governors. A multiparish juvenile detention home shall be domiciled at the parish seat in one of the parishes which it serves, as designated by the board of governors. It shall be sued at its domicile and service of all legal documents shall be made on the president or secretary of the board of governors.

B. Any multiparish juvenile detention home district may acquire title by purchase or donation to real and personal property for public purposes; may own, operate or maintain facilities for the housing, care, supervision, maintenance and education of juveniles under the age of eighteen years, and for individuals eighteen years of age and over who were under eighteen years of age when they committed an alleged offense.
