24-708. Treasurer to pay to clerk amounts collected; payment of damages assessed.
When assessments for benefits have been collected by the county treasurer, as provided in K.S.A. 24-707, it shall be the duty of the county treasurer to pay each such assessment, together with such penalty and interest as have accrued thereon, to the clerk of the district court, who shall receipt the county treasurer therefor, and shall note the fact of such payment on the journal opposite the record of the assessment, which shall operate as a discharge of the lien of the assessment against the land. When all assessments for benefits have been paid in full to the clerk of the district court, it shall then be his duty, on demand, to pay out to the persons to whom assessments of damages have been made the respective assessments and damages for each tract of land for which damages have been assessed, and shall take the receipt of the person receiving such damages for the amount paid to him, and also require such person to receipt the journal for such payment opposite the record of such assessment of damages.
