14-674. Bonds for construction and equipment of addition or annex to city hospital, when; limitations; election; petition.
The governing body of any city of the second class may construct, build, erect, furnish and equip an addition or annex to any hospital being operated and maintained by such city or enlarge, add to, reconstruct or rebuild said hospital or nurses' home used in connection with said hospital, whenever such governing body shall determine that the existing hospital facilities are inadequate and such addition or annex or other improvement is necessary and needed, and such governing body may issue bonds of such city in such amount, not exceeding the limit of bonded indebtedness of said city, as may be necessary for such purpose: Provided, No such bonds shall be issued pursuant to the provisions hereof until the issuance of such bonds and the amount thereof, has been authorized by a majority vote of the electors, voting at a general city election or at a special election called for that purpose. Said election may be called by the governing body of said city upon its own motion, and shall be called upon petition of twenty-five percent (25%) of the duly registered electors of said city.
