Compliance alternatives for unenclosed or improperly enclosed exit stairways or vertical shafts include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Improve enclosure of exit stairway;
  2. Add a partial fire suppression system;
  3. Add a sprinkler draft curtain; or
  4. Add a smoke detection system.
