- Inspection and Registration Requirement; Maintenance; Alterations
- All elevators, escalators, manlifts, moving walks, and dumbwaiters erected or placed in service after January 1, 1986, shall be inspected before being placed in service and shall be registered within 15 days after they are completed and placed in service.
- Every elevator, dumbwaiter, manlift, moving walk, and escalator shall be maintained by the owner or lessee in a safe operating condition and in conformity with the rules and regulations specified by subsection (b) of Code Section 8-2-104.
- Before any alteration can be made to any elevator, escalator, manlift, moving walk, or dumbwaiter already placed in service, the owner or lessee shall be required to notify the enforcement authority of any such alteration. The enforcement authority shall be authorized to conduct an inspection after any such alteration.
