The governing body of each county, municipality, or other political subdivision of the state shall have the power to enact such ordinances, regulations, or fire and life safety codes as may be necessary to carry out this article.

Fire ordinances for day care centers.

- Authority of local governments to enact fire ordinances for day care centers was preempted by former O.C.G.A. § 49-5-14 [repealed], which gave the Board of Human Resources authority to adopt fire safety codes for day care centers. 1984 Op. Att'y Gen. No. 84-9.
