Except as authorized by this article, it is unlawful for any person to possess, have under his control, manufacture, deliver, distribute, dispense, administer, sell, or possess with intent to distribute a counterfeit substance. Any person who violates this Code section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.

Evidence in other prosecutions.
- In a proceeding against defendant for possession of cocaine, the trial court erred in admitting similar transaction evidence of defendant's possession of counterfeit cocaine when defendant was not given notice of the state's intent to introduce evidence of that crime. Crawford v. State, 230 Ga. App. 568, 497 S.E.2d 45 (1998).
