Neighborhood Safety and Engagement Fund

(a) There is established as a special fund the Neighborhood Safety and Engagement Fund ("Fund"), which shall be administered by the Mayor in accordance with subsection (c) of this section.

(b) Funds from the following sources shall be deposited into the Fund:

(1) Fifty percent of all net revenue collected pursuant to§ 36-621.11(a)(3); and

(2) All fees collected pursuant to § 50-1501.02k(b)(1).

(c) Money in the Fund shall only be used to support the duties of the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement as described in § 7-2411(b).

(d)(1) The money deposited into the Fund but not expended in a fiscal year shall not revert to the unassigned fund balance of the General Fund of the District of Columbia at the end of a fiscal year, or at any other time.

(2) Subject to authorization in an approved budget and financial plan, any funds appropriated in the Fund shall be continually available without regard to fiscal year limitation.

Applicability

According to the Office of the Budget Director, D.C. Law 23-234 is currently funded. Therefore, this section has been implemented.

Applicability of D.C. Law 23-234: § 4 of D.C. Law 23-234 provided that the change made to this section by § 3 of D.C. Law 23-234 is subject to the inclusion of the law’s fiscal effect in an approved budget and financial plan. Therefore that amendment has not been implemented.

Section 16 of D.C. Law 23-68 provided that the changes made to this section by D.C. Law 23-68 shall apply as of October 1, 2019.

Section 7014 of D.C. Law 22-33 repealed § 901 of D.C. Law 21-125. Therefore the changes made to this section by D.C. Law 21-125 have been implemented.

Applicability of D.C. Law 21-125: § 901 of D.C. Law 21-125 provided that the change made to this section by § 103 of D.C. Law 21-125 is subject to the inclusion of the law’s fiscal effect in an approved budget and financial plan. Therefore that amendment has not been implemented.
