The Commissioner of Public Health shall adopt regulations, in accordance with chapter 54, requiring that persons who are employed as lifeguards shall be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation by the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, the American Safety and Health Institute or an organization using guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care published by the American Heart Association and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation.

History: P.A. 93-381 replaced commissioner of health services with commissioner of public health and addiction services, effective July 1, 1993; P.A. 95-257 replaced Commissioner and Department of Public Health and Addiction Services with Commissioner and Department of Public Health, effective July 1, 1995; P.A. 14-36 added provision re certification by the American Safety and Health Institute; P.A. 19-105 added reference to organization using guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care published by the American Heart Association and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation, and made technical changes, effective July 1, 2019.
